Mission Statement
The mission of the American Heart Association's Council for High Blood Pressure Research (HBPR) is "to foster excellence in high blood pressure research and education" and achieve the association's objectives in the field of hypertension. Members support the association's mission of "building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke."
The HBPR Council holds an annual international scientific conference for presentations on basic and clinical hypertension research. The fall conference presentations are published in the American Heart Association's journal Hypertension. The Novartis Award for Hypertension Research, the most prestigious award in this field, is also presented at the conference.
