Program Offerings:

Founders Affiliate Undergraduate Student Summer Fellowship Program

The goal of this program is to encourage students to pursue careers in cardiovascular research. Research projects with broad relevance to cardiovascular biology and stroke will be considered.

Application deadline: February 15, 2010
5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time

Award activation: 10-week period during the summer of 2010

The Martin B. Leon, M.D./Johnson & Johnson Cordis Corporation Research Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology

The goal of this program is to advance the science of interventional cardiology through a significant basic science or clinical research project. This could include projects on the spectrum, from basic vascular biology to clinical outcomes following interventional cardiology procedures. 

Important Note
The American Heart Association Founders Affiliate has put the Martin B. Leon, M.D./Johnson & Johnson Cordis Corporation Research Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology Award on hiatus for a year. Therefore, this award will not be available for July 1, 2010 activation. 

Health Sciences Student Research

The goal of this program is to encourage advanced health science students to consider a career in cardiovascular research. The need for new researchers in health sciences, from basic science to human behaviors, is critical. This program is designed to give students at the crossroads of career choices an opportunity to experience research first-hand with an established researcher. Award for student stipends are made for a period of 6 to 12 months and are prorated at $20,000 per year plus 10 percent indirect costs.
