Go Red Lifestyle: Take Control

Live a Go Red For Women Lifestyle

Go Red For Women combines style with substance. Going red is more than a fashion statement – it’s the symbol of women and heart disease and of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement. Go Red For Women is personal. It’s about your personal risk for heart disease and the personal choices you make that can reduce that risk. It’s about your style.

Wearing red is just the beginning of being a part of the Go Red For Women movement. You’ve got to start living a Go Red lifestyle by doing the things that will help you live a longer, stronger life. The American Heart Association wants you to work with your doctor to reduce your risk.

Heart disease can be largely prevented if women take care of themselves. Ask your doctor to help you create a plan to reduce your risk – a plan that includes a heart-healthy diet, exercise and medication, if necessary. You can protect yourself.

Women face six major risk factors for heart disease that can be prevented, controlled or treated with diet, exercise and sometimes medications prescribed. These are high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, tobacco smoke, physical inactivity, obesity or overweight and diabetes.
