AHA/ASA/EMF/SAEM Emergency Medicine Research Fellow-to-Faculty
Transition Award
 
Purpose
Special funding is available from the Emergency Medicine Foundation and the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine to support a career development award for an individual interested in embarking on an academic career into emergency medicine research.
 
This award is restricted to cardiovascular and stroke-related emergency medicine research.

Eligibility
Limited to Fellow-to-Faculty Transition Award program.

Funding
The EMF and SAEM will each donate $32,500 to fund the training stage of one Fellow-to-Faculty Transition Award.

How to Apply
Apply for an American Heart Association Fellow-to-Faculty Transition Award.  The application deadline is Jan. 22, 2010.

Selection Process
EMF/SAEM will choose its designee from the list of meritorious, fundable FTF applications.

ASP/AHA Career Development Award


 

Purpose
The Association of  Specialty Professors is partnering with the American Heart Association to designate a Beginning Grant-in-Aid or Scientist Development Grant that supports physician investigators interested in embarking on academic careers in cardiovascular aging research and/or cardiovascular disease in older adults.

AHA/CCF Pediatric Cardiomyopathy Research Award

Purpose  
The Children's Cardiomyopathy Foundation (CCF) has partnered with the AHA to establish a research award for investigators conducting research related to pediatric cardiomyopathy.  The award supports basic, clinical, population or translational research relevant to the diagnosis, causes or treatment of cardiomyopathy (dilated, hypertrophic, restrictive, arrhythmogenic right ventricular, left ventricular non-compaction) in children under 18 years old.


Eligibility
  
Limited to Beginning Grant-in-Aid and Grant-in-Aid programs.

Funding 
CCF will provide $35,000 per year for two years to fund one Beginning Grant-in-Aid or one Grant-in-Aid related to pediatric cardiomyopathy research.  The AHA will provide the balance of the funds for the selected award.

AHA/FARA Ataxia Cardiology Research Award

Purpose: Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) has partnered with the American Heart Association to establish a research award for investigators conducting research related to Friedreich's Ataxia and cardiology.  The award supports basic, clinical, population or translational research relevant to the causes or treatment of cardiology diseases in Friedreich's Ataxia patients.

Eligibility: Limited to Beginning Grant-in-Aid and Grant-in-Aid programs.

Funding: FARA will provide 50 percent of the cost to fund the award(s) chosen per year for two years, funding Beginning Grant-in-Aids or one Grant-in-Aids related to Ataxia cardiology research.  The AHA will provide the balance of the funds needed to fully fund the selected award(s).

AHA/PHA Postdoctoral Fellowship Award


Purpose
: The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is co-sponsoring has partnered with the American Heart Association to establish a research award to support a trainee to embark upon a career dedicated to the study of pulmonary hypertension through basic or clinical research. 

Eligibility: Limited to Postdoctoral Fellowship programs.

Funding: PHA will provide 50 percent of the cost to fund the award(s) chosen per year for two years, funding Postdoctoral Fellowships related to pulmonary hypertension research. The AHA will provide the balance of the funds needed to fully fund the selected award(s).
