Peer Review Guidelines Applications are reviewed by an impartial group whose members are competent to judge and grade research projects. The Peer Review Committee provides a critical science review of applications according to established AHA standards. It is charged with reviewing and grading applications based on scientific merit. Peer review committees are composed entirely of clinical and basic scientists who are actively engaged in research or who have had appropriate research experience. Peer reviewer tasks are now web-based using our electronic system, Grants@Heart. This secured site for applicants, awardees and peer reviewers requires a user ID and password. The system is available 24/7 with an internet connection. Peer reviewers can review applications, write critiques, enter concerns, scores, etc. and nominate other peer reviewers using the electronic system. The peer review meetings are paperless. See help documents for assistance in working with the electronic system.
