Start! Indianapolis

Start

Company leaders from Hoosier-based J.D. Byrider were part of a national effort to set a world record at an event at New York’s Grand Central Terminal on Tuesday, Jan. 6.  The American Heart Association hosted the event to promote physical activity and to kick-off a new online community of virtual walking buddies.

The MyStart! Online community encourages the public to find their “sole-mate” at this online community, someone who will provide support, motivation and accountability, whether that may be in your own backyard or on the other side of the country.

The online “buddy” community was demonstrated at Grand Central Terminal by working to set a world record to be recognized by the official Guinness Book of World Records, where two treadmills operated for 16 hours while “sole-mates” took turns walking consecutively in 30-minute increments.

Hoosiers were part of the record breaking event, including Jared Fogle, Subway spokesperson, who walked on the treadmill aside buddy Joy Bauer of the Today show.  In addition, Hoosier Jim England, President of J.D. Byrider Advertising, and Jim DeVoe, CEO of J.D. Byrider, walked at the event.  J.D. Byrider’s headquarters are in Carmel.
